So, as an update to the progress with my screen time purpose project, we just did elevator pitches in class to present to everyone what our project was in less than a minute. I really enjoyed this style of presentation, as I kept everything short and concise to stay within the guidelines. My elevator pitch and the preparation for the pitch helped me realize what I was truly trying to get after: My own issues with electronics. I realized that by sharing my own experiences alongside professional opinions and facts, I could come up with some compelling data.
Besides that, my project is going great. I finished my first week of monitoring my iPhone and iPad usage, and the numbers honestly blew me away. I was spending 3 to 4 hours on my phone a day, so much more than I expected I was spending.
This week, I have begun the no electronics part of the project, so until Friday evening, no electronics for me, including TV, Xbox, and other devices. I’m enjoying this a lot more than I expected to, as I feel like my days are not as rushed, like I have so much more time to get things done. All in all, I’m very pleased with how this is coming along and I’ll be sure to add updates as I come along.
